    Garden ornaments

    When all the works in the garden are finished, it’s time to think about garden décor. Garden sculptures, statues, garden gnomes and stone garden ornaments help to add beauty to the outdoor space. Garden décor highlights chosen garden design style, adds beauty and originality. You can choose funny garden gnomes, monumental garden stones, garden statues and sculptures. The main aim here is purely decorative, however garden décor can be functional. For instance, garden figures help to protect the crops, scaring birds away by its appearance.
     

    Stone garden ornaments and figures

    Garden gnome figure represents funny gnomes with red caps, holding different objects. They are quite popular garden design elements and can be made of terracotta, wood, stone and plastic.

    Different garden gnomes can be placed near the house entrance, flowerbed, on the lawn or in the bushes. These figurines create unexpected effect and add fairytale mood to the outdoor space.
    Gabions, dry streams, pathways and platforms in the garden can be made of natural and artificial stones. Garden stones are usedfor outdoor fireplaces, decorative fencing, rockeries and rock gardens. Garden sculptures and statues are made of natural stone. They can depict humans, animals and birds, artificial geometric shapes (sphere garden sculpture). Stone garden ornaments help to emphasize certain elements in the garden, are used in decorating entrance areas (lion garden sculpture), water features (stone cranes and herons) and children’s playgrounds (fairy garden sculpture).

    Garden sculpture should work to connect all garden elements, taking into account architectural style of the outdoor space. It can beeither round or embossed. ExceptInatural stones, garden sculptures can be made of such materials as concrete, metal, wood and gypsum. Depending on gardens size and purpose, sculptures can be either big or small, incorporate classic or abstract style.

    Sphere garden sculpture has strict geometric form and looks stunning in combination with a group of decorative plants. These sculptures can be placed individually or in clusters, consisting of spheres of different size. Spheres can be placed on the lawn, gravel platforms and deckings.
    Gargoyle garden sculpture is used in gothic style and represents fantasy animal figurine with wings. In medieval times this architectural element was used to convey water from a roof and scare evil spirits away. In garden design such figurines look massive, showing the power of the stone. Gargoyle garden sculpture can be placed on roofs and facades of the house, on the lawn, at the top of fencing. Usually these sculptures are carved from granite, being sturdy and reliable.
    Animal garden sculptures can depict bears,hares, horses, storks and other animals. They are made of natural stone, wood or artificial materials, with protecting covering. Stone animal garden figurines are made of granite or marble. Animal garden sculpture can be standing individually or be incorporated in porches and pavilions architecture. Wooden garden ornaments depicting animals are quite popular in garden design. Such sculptures are made to order, being handmade pieces.

    Garden statue is one of sculpture types, depicting humans, mythical characters or animalsin full height.

    Asian statues depict Indian, Chinese and Japanese gods ( Buddha, Ganesh and Shiva garden statues). Dragons and lions statues are popular in the East. These statues are placed pairwise near the house entrance in Chinese gardens. They can be covered with monochromatic yellow paint and hand paintings. Antique garden statues of at least one hundred years old can be placed in Chinese gardens. Such garden statues are rare and valuable, being of cultural significance.
