Il Nature has been commissioned to carry out the restoration of Chateau Jonval’s classic park. Both the chateau and park are considered important historic monuments and are protected by the French state.
Chateau Jonval lies in the commune of Pierrefonds, and is easily one of the most picturesque chateaus in all of France. It was the source of inspiration for Atos’ Manor in Alexandre Dumas’ classic novel ‘The Three Musketeers’.
Il Nature’s talented landscape architects will restore the ancient, romantic park over the coming years. The project includes restoring old staircases, grottoes, cascades, shaded alleys and flower gardens to their original 15th and 16th century grandeur.
Recent storms have taken a heavy toll on the park, meaning that the project also includes replacing century-old lime tress and beeches broken by the winds with trees specially grown in the Il Nature nursery gardens to help ornament this splendid pearl of classic French garden and park design.
